Goal #6
By June 2025, staff retention will improve through communication at PLC, ILT, CSIP, faculty and department meetings.
Quarter | Status | Progress Narrative |
---|---|---|
Q1 | On Track | Staff surveys from June 2024 were analyzed, and adjustments were made to provide staff with a clearer understanding of procedural updates to our discipline process to start the 2024-25 school year. A newsletter from the principal with reminders, updates, professional development articles, and videos is sent to staff twice a month. Faculty announcements with weekly schedules and other important information are sent out daily. Lines of department communication are kept open through our Instructional Leadership Team meetings. Our department chairs serve on this committee. They help plan professional development for the staff, ask any questions, and help provide clarification to staff if there are communication breakdowns at department meetings. |
Q2 | On Track | Frederick County Public Schools administered a climate survey to staff during the second quarter. In analyzing this data, one of the areas that we can improve is school participation and finding ways to hear ideas and feedback from all teachers regularly. Starting in the third quarter, the administration will offer an anonymous survey for staff to share their concerns and how the administration may address their concerns so they can feel more connected. Once the feedback is received, the administration will create a plan to address the concerns. |

Goal #7
By June 2025, students will have a better sense of belonging at Millbrook, as evidenced by the FCPS Climate survey.
Quarter | Status | Progress Narrative |
---|---|---|
Q1 | On Track |
At the beginning of school, clubs, choir, band, and athletics participated in our “All about the M” event, our open house where parents and students could see all the extracurriculars available at Millbrook. The clubs and athletics also utilize school announcements and social media to promote and encourage club participation. Athletic contests started during this time, and students were encouraged to come out and support their friends at events. |
Q2 | On Track | Homecoming week occurred during the second quarter. We held class meetings so that students understood the purpose of homecoming and how the voting process occurred. Additionally, we took the time to teach our students about the pep rally games and spirit week. We had over 800 students attend the Homecoming Dance this year. FCPS also sent out a climate survey to students to get their feedback. One area of growth for Millbrook is to continue to work on a sense of belonging at the school. We have 1,250 students involved in extracurricular activities, but approximately 30% feel they don’t belong. To decrease this number of students who feel like they don’t have a place at Millbrook, we are scheduling times when the administration can meet with the leadership teams of all four grade levels to hear ideas they may have or ask questions. We hope this will open lines of communication and students will have more input on what goes on at Millbrook. Our PBIS team is also starting “Frontier Fridays” in the spring semester, which is a class spirit competition. |
