Scholarship awarded to graduating senior. Scholarship amounts vary.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Be a resident of Winchester-Frederick or Clarke County, Virginia
  • Be high school seniors or graduates of one of the above-named counties
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale through the latest fall semester
  • Be planning to attend full-time an accredited public or private, two-year or four-year college or university located in the United States.

Shenandoah Electric Cooperative Scholarship

$2,000 scholarship awarded to high school senior in the region that SVEC serves.

A student's parents or guardians must be members of SVEC whose primary residence is in the Valley, and the student must attend high school located in the counties or city served by the cooperative.

Initial judging criteria are the quality of essay provided by the student and three letters of recommendation.  These documents will help the committee to better know the student applying.  The applicant's school/community activities, financial need and the quality of the applicant's high school course load and performance will be reviewed.

Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Scholarships

Multiple scholarships offered, amounts vary

Eligibility for all categories:

  • Virginia resident
  • High school senior
  • Interest in golf

Dedicated Scholarships:

Factors Considered:

  • All around resume, including academics, extracurricular activities and golf involvement
  • Specific parameters of dedicated scholarship (e.g. academic focus, region, First Tee connections, etc.)
  • At least one dedicated scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a military dependent

Member Club Support Scholarships:

Reserved for a student who has worked at a member club or who parent or guardian works at a member club.

Factors Considered:

  • Depth of service of parent/student
  • Financial need for scholarship

Participation in Golf Scholarships:

Reserved for:

  • Student who is active in VSGA programs and events and/or has shown an interest in growing the game of golf (e.g. camp or First Tee counselor).
  • Student who plans a major/career in the golf industry (e.g. PGM, turfgrass, hospitality)

Factors Considered:

  • Financial need for scholarship
  • Level of involvement and length of participation in programs and events

Horatio Alger Association Scholarships

Multiple scholarships offered with varying amounts awarded.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at one of the target colleges/universities on the website.
  • Demonstrate financial need ($100,000 or lower household income).
  • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
  • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Be a United States Citizen

AGCVA - Zachary Fletchall Memorial Construction Scholarship

$1,500 scholarship awarded to students attending post-high school educational/training instructions who plan to enter the construction industry in their professional careers, including but limited to contractors, skilled trades and engineering.

Eligibility:

  1. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
  2. Applicant must be a full-time high school student or full or part time student if enrolled in a post-high school institution.
  3. It is preferred that applicants live within the counties of the AGCVA Valley District which include: Augusta, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Warren counties.
  4. Applicant must be applying to or currently enrolled in an accredited institution including technical/training centers, community colleges or colleges/universities.
  5. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  6. Completed application and all supporting documents must be postmarked by Friday, February 27, 2026.

Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Scholarship Program

Up to $80,000 over four years of undergraduate study awarded to first year students entering the College of Engineering or the College of Literature, Science and ARts at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Eligibility Requirements:

Recipient Must:

  • Have graduated high school with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Be a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or another related scientific field in the College of Engineering or the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident.

DuPont Community Credit Union Scholarship

$1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior at each of the 29 high schools in their membership area.

Applicants are asked to write a 500-750 word essay about the following:

Pursuing higher education comes with many hidden costs-expenses beyond tuition such as textbooks, transportation, meals and personal essentials.  As someone who is preparing for this transition, how do you plan to budget for these often-overlooked costs?

National Naval Officers Association Scholarship

Each year, the Washington DC chapter of the NNOA awards scholarships starting at $1,000 to minority youth from the Washington DC Metropolitan Area based on academic achievement, positive community involvement, commitment and financial need.  Scholarship recipients select their major and attend the college or university of their choice without any obligation to join or affiliate with the military.

Students must submit a completed application package verified by their counselor by March 6th, 2026 in order to be considered for a scholarship.

complete application package consists of:

  • Application submitted online.
  • Supporting documents (all attachment filenames must begin with student last name):
  1. Transcript and/or SAT/ACT score report
  2. A listing of extracurricular activities, academic honors and positions of leadership (.doc or .pdf format)
  3. Statement of financial need and/or special circumstances/compelling situation (limit 1 page)
  4. Two (2) letters of recommendation from school officials or other position to address character, citizenship and leadership
  5. Recent photograph (wallet size, high quality if possible) (cropping a photo ID counts)
  6. Short BIO (Name, Age, Hometown, College you plan to attend with Major, future goals/aspirations)

Winchester-Frederick-Clarke Republication Women Kay Gunter Memorial Scholarship

$1,000 scholarship awarded to graduating female senior who will be entering her freshman year of college in the Fall of 2026

With the completed application you will need to write a 500 words or less essay on "The Role of the Republican Woman in Today's Community" and provide two (2) letters of recommendation.

The Society of the Cincinnati Weedon Memorial High School History Essay Contest Scholarship

$4,000 to $6,000 awarded to graduating Senior.

Eligibility:

Any graduating Virginia high school senior who has been admitted to a four-year college or university in the Commonwealth of Virginia which he or she plans to attend in the fall of 2026, is eligible to enter the essay contest.

Essay Topic: The Significance of Washington's Spies in the American Revolution.

Entries should be limited to 1,500 words, excluding citations and should be typed, with double spacing and one-inch margins on one side of white letter sized paper.

Katherine Glass Greene Education Scholarship

This scholarship is for at least $1,000 and may be presented to one or more qualified high school students who are pursuing a career as a teacher.

Students must include a copy of your high school transcript and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or community leader with their application.

Passion for Civic Involvement Scholarship

$1,500 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from one of the Winchester/Frederick County public high schools.

Criteria:

  1. The applicant must be projected to graduate from Winchester or Frederick County, VA public school and planning to pursue post-secondary education at a community college, four year college or university, trade or professional training school.
  2. Civic responsibility must be demonstrated by involvement with civic, charitable or political organizations. Examples could include promoting social and political causes, working on campaigns, participating in other volunteer activities.
  3. A record of success in academic course work.
  4. Two letters of recommendation from teachers to attest to the applicant's potential for success at the post high school level.
  5. One letter of recommendation from a member of a type of organization referred to in item 2 above, describing the applicant's work with that organization.
  6. The submission of an essay of at least 200 words discussing the applicant's actions that they believe have had a positive impact on their community.
  7. Complete application must be received no later than March 15, 2026 in order to be considered.

VMDAEC Education Scholarship

$1,500 scholarships awarded to high school students entering college or trade school in 2026

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The primary residence of the applicant's parent or legal guardian must receive its power from one of the 16 electric cooperatives served by the Virginia, Maryland Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives.  For a list of qualifying electric cooperatives please visit the website below.
  • Applicants applying for a scholarship must be a senior graduating from either high school or home school in 2026
  • Applicant must be entering his or her first semester of a post-secondary or trade school in the fall of 2026.

Requirements:

  • Student must have a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Quota International of Winchester Scholarship

$1,000 to $3,000 scholarship awarded to a deserving graduating student of the Class of 2026.

Applicants must:

  • Complete application and include current high school transcript
  • Submit what you believe would be the mission statement of your life.
  • In addition to completing the application, please submit a letter that answers the following questions:
  1. What community groups have you been a part of during your high school career?
  2. What have you learned about yourself, life and your community because of your involvement in such programs?
  3. Which organizations have made the biggest impression on you and will you continue to lend them your time as you pursue your future goals?
  4. What is your plan of study and goal?
  5. Are you hearing impaired or interested in working with the hearing impaired?

Stonewall District Ruritan Club Scholarship

$1,500 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior planning to attend a trade school or college having the following traits, listed in order of priority:

  1. Demonstrate that they are volunteering, serving and giving back to their community.
  2. Are need based, possibly don't qualify for other scholarships.
  3. GPA is a tie breaker and not a key driver.

M. Willis White Business Scholarship

$600 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a business-related track in an accredited institution.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • Completed and signed application and all supporting documents must be received by the deadline.
  • Attained a GPA of at least 3.0 (Based on a 4.0 scale)
  • Proof of acceptance into a business-related post secondary education program.
  • Completed essay, typed, double-spaced between 250-1000 words on the subject: "Why I Wish to Pursue a Career in Business"
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation, preferably from a business leader/owner and a teacher involved in your business education.
  • Any additional information submitted to support the essay is welcome; however, limited to 4 attachments NOT including the 2 letters of recommendation.

The Community Foundation Scholarships: Andy King Memorial Scholarship

$2,000 one-time scholarship opportunity for any senior planning to pursue a Bachelor's degree with a college major in the field of agriculture.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Strong academic standing
  2. Demonstrated financial need
  3. Active extracurricular involvement

Community Foundation Scholarship Application

VASECD/Lord Fairfax Soil and Water Conservation District Educational Scholarship

$2,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior majoring in or showing a strong desire to major in a course curriculum related to natural resource conservation and/or environmental studies.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be Virginia residents and full-time students enrolled in or who have applied to a college freshman level curriculum.
  • Applicants shall document a class ranking in the top 20% of his or her graduating class or a 3.0 or greater GPA or appropriate equivalent of individual scholastic achievement.
  • A copy of the applicants most recent official school transcript must accompany the application.
  • Applicants shall demonstrate active interest in conservation.

Johnson Williams High School/Raymond Ratcliff Scholarship

One time scholarship open to any graduating high school senior who:

  • Is a relative of someone who attended Johnson Williams High School, Josephine City School, WTB, Clarke County Training School, Boyce, White Post, Millwood School or Webbtown Schools.
  • Possesses a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • Plans on attending a two or four year college or technical school.

Please include the following with your application packet:

  • Official transcript
  • Recommendation form - please provide 2 recommendations from a teacher or counselor and a community member (Recommendation should not come from friends or family members)
  • Essay of at least 200 words describing goals you have set and how this scholarship will assist you in attaining these goals.  Also, describe how you have demonstrated leadership skills in school, work and/or community; and how these experiences have become instrumental in preparing you for the next level of higher education and beyond.

MPAA Scholarship

Scholarship amounts vary

Application Guidelines:

  • Must have a GPA of 2.0 or greater to apply
  • Must have played or managed a sport for Millbrook High School your senior year unless an injury or illness made you unable to try out and play or manage your senior year.
  • Must submit completed application to Guidance by 2:30pm Friday, April 24th, 2026 - NO EXCEPTIONS!! Incomplete applications may not be processed.
  • Must also submit a letter of recommendation from someone who holds a position of respect in your life who is not related and shall be received by the April 24th deadline to be eligible for a scholarship.  It is the applicant's responsibility to verify with the guidance office that all paperwork is received.  Letters of recommendation dated after September 1st of the applicant's senior year may be used.
